Hiram

Update from Africa!

Hiram was seen on 25/05/2010 by Mary, who is a representative of The Hotcourses Foundation in Africa. The following report was made:
Hiram was getting ready to go for an interview in Mitaboni primary school, it is a Catholic boarding school. He looked very nervous to extent of sweating as early as 9 a.m. He later passed the interview and joined class 6 on the 10th of June. I did not get a chance to see him in his new uniform but saw him the day before with home clothes doing his shopping, and by the look on his face he seemed excited to go to his new school. We hope for the best for him and his studies.

Hiram is 12 years old and is cared for by his grandmother. Both his parents have passed away, his father in 2000 and his mother in 2002. Hiram's grandmother took over his care when he was 4 years old and relies on the kindness of wellwishers to support him and his older brother who is negative.

When Hiram began to fall ill his grandmother's neighbour told her about the Lea Toto out reach program in Kariobangi. He has been receiving treatment there for 2 years and begun taking ARV's (Anti-Retro Viral drugs) 5 months ago.

Hiram is in primary school and enjoys maths and English. He is a huge Manchester United fan and would love to be a pilot when he grows up.
