Update from Africa!
Mercy A was seen on 07/05/2010 by Mary, who is a representative of The Hotcourses Foundation in Africa. The following report was made:
Kangundo DEB primary school is located in Kangundo which is a 2-3 hour drive from Nairobi. This is where Mercy school’s as a boarder. She was opening on that day after April’s holiday which she spent at home with her mother and her twin sister Nancy. She is now 15 years old in class 7. She had total marks of 171 marks out of 500 marks. She was position 65 out of 68. She admitted she had performed poorly but her biggest problem was that she could not understand English well. Their headmaster advised her to utilize the school’s library for her to improve on her education. Her best subject is C.R.E. (Christian Religious Education). She plays football as a goalkeeper. Mercy would like to be a business person when she finishes her studies. She sends her appreciation for the sponsorship provided.

Mercy A and Nancy Ad are twin sisters of 14 years. They live with their mother who was widowed in 2002. They have an older brother, a younger sister and 2 younger brothers, the last 3 are not in school as their mother cannot afford schooling on the little she earns from washing clothes and digging. Mercy is HIV-. Mercy enjoys social studies as her best subject at school and would like to have a business when she grows up. She likes running and singing. She shares a bunk bed with her twin sister at boarding school.
