Update from Africa!
Sarah M was seen on 20/07/2010 by Mary, who is a representative of The Hotcourses Foundation in Africa. The following report was made:
Sarah is in class 8 at South B Baptist Academy. She had 301 marks in her mid-term exams and was position 12 out of 35 students. Science is her preferred subject which she had 76%. Her favourite teacher is Mr. Muando her social studies teacher. She was doing her end term exam which she said was not that hard-hitting. She does not involve herself in any sport; according to her she puts education first. She likes her school which mostly advises on keeping the environment clean, the teachers are good too. Sarah aims at 350 marks and above in her K.C.P.E exams come November. She lives with her mother, 1 brother and 1 sister. She helps them to wash clothes and clean utensils. Sarah would like to be a nurse in future, and the part she likes most for this job is using the syringe!

Sarah’s father died in 1997. Sarah is the lastborn, 15 years, with an older brother and sister and all live with their mother who washes clothes in an effort to keep them. The mother also cares for 3 cousins whose parents died in 2002. Sarah used to miss a lot of school as she was often ill though she only needs to take Septrine and multivitamins for her status. She loves school and her favourite subject is Kiswahili though she speaks very good English. She was position 30 out of 75 in her class in the second term of 2009. She loves singing and would like to become a nurse.
