Update from Africa!
Joseph N was seen on 23/09/2009 by Mary, who is a representative of The Hotcourses Foundation in Africa. The following report was made:
Joseph is a six year old boy in class one. Before he moved to Early Learners Academy he was in a school called Rising Star Academy. He could remember writing a letter to his sponsor during the August holiday. He remembered drawing a car, chair, table and a ball. His class teacher is called Mrs. Murege. His best subjects are Maths, Kiswahili, English and Science. He was doing his continuous assessment tests (CATs) that day that is Kiswahili and Maths, which he said he thought he did well.
The school provides tea and bread over 10 o’clock tea, his mother brings him lunch from home. Joseph loves playing football. His class teacher insisted on tuition, because she felt that Joseph has the potential but needs to be pushed. He lives with his mother, father, his brother Collins and his sister Gatu. He helps to clean utensils at home. Joseph is very talkative and not shy. He would like to be a pick-up driver when he grows up.

Joseph is the last-born in his family. He has an older brother and sister. He is 7 years old. Both his mother and his father are HIV+ on anteretroviral treatment. Joseph is taking the prophylactic medicine Septrine. His father is a caretaker in a primary school and his mother finds work washing clothes. Joseph enjoys drawing, reading and playing with his friends.
