Jill Sowerby works for the Hotcourses Foundation in Kenya, liaising with the children we support to keep our records up to date. She says, 'working with disadvantaged children is an enormous privilege. I came to know of Nyumbani and the Lea Toto Programme through Alex Williams,a trustee of The Hotcourses Foundation, in 2002. In February 2007 I was asked by Alex and Jeremy Hunt to assist The Hotcourses Foundation for a couple of days a week. Armed with a Hotcourses laptop computer and digital camera this is what I now do'.

Jill provides regular updates of the progress the Foundation is making in Kenya and about the welfare of the children. To gain a real insight into our work and the lives of children affected by AIDS and HIV please take a look at her blog below. WINTER IN KENYA

31 Jul 10

Mary is stuck in the mud and open drains in Mukuru.

Winter in Kenya Kenya is on the Equator and has two rainy seasons per year influenced by the NE and SE Trade winds, but in the months of July and August it is cold and misty here in Nairobi which lies at 6000' above sea level.

Mary has completed in one year a full round of school visits for all the Hotcourses children.  The children will be writing to their sponsors during the August holidays.  On 8 September Mary will restart her visits when the final term of the school year begins.
